A one-day Plant Genetic Resources (PGR) Awareness Programme under NEH Sub-Plan was organized by the ICAR–National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources under the NEH Sub-Plan at Rangacherra Uttar Ekcharri ADC, Gomati District, Tripura on 5th March,2026 in collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Gomati, Government of Tripura, under the jurisdiction of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council. A total of 100 beneficiaries (58 male and 42 female) participated in the programme. Technical sessions were delivered by Dr. Julius Uchoi (Senior Scientist) on the importance and conservation of plant genetic resources, along with improved technologies for major fruit crops, kitchen gardening, and aerobic composting, while Dr. Binoy Tripura, SMS (Agricultural Extension) discussed vegetable production, beekeeping, and low-cost mushroom cultivation. An interactive session addressed farmers’ queries on pest and disease management. The programme benefited farmers from seven tribal communities—Chakma, Debbarma, Garo, Halam, Jamatia, Tripura, and Uchoi/Uchai. Agricultural tools and inputs, including basic field tools such as Spade(1) Battery operated Sprayer (1), Garden hose pipe(1), Sickle (1), Hand Trowel (1),Grafting knife (1), Pruning secateur (1) Torch (1) Tarpaulin sheet (1), Watering Can(1), Seedling tray(8) , fruit crop saplings : mango(1), dragon fruit(4), litchi(3), guava(3), and lemon(4), were distributed to all beneficiaries to support improved livelihood and sustainable agricultural practices.
