ICAR-NBPGR Regional Station Shimla showcases exhibition on conservation and promotion of traditional crops and fruit diversity in the NW Himalayan region

On August 20, 2024, ICAR-NBPGR Shimla organized an exhibition to mark the 76th Foundation Day of the ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) Shimla. The exhibition centered on conserving and promoting the rich diversity of traditional crops and fruits from the North-Western Himalayan region. The event was graced by the Honourable Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shri Shiv Pratap Shukla, who served as the chief guest. Other prominent attendees included Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Chairman of the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), Sh. Suriender Chauhan, Mayor of the Municipal Corporation Shimla, and Dr. Brijesh Singh, Director of ICAR-CPRI. During the event, Dr. Narender Negi, scientist at ICAR-NBPGR Shimla, provided an overview of the station’s significant efforts in conserving and promoting the traditional crops and fruit diversity of the Himalayan region. The dignitaries in attendance expressed their appreciation for ICAR-NBPGR Shimla’s vital contributions to preserving the region’s agricultural heritage
