Salient Achievements

Dr. Vikender Kaur has contributed significantly to the characterization and evaluation of cereal and oilseed crop germplasm. She initiated and characterized the entire genebank collection of barley (7500 accessions) and linseed (2800 accessions) germplasm. As the Project Co-coordinator, she executed DBT-Linseed Network Project having an outlay of INR 2256 lakhs. She has developed technologies namely Core & Mini-Core Collection in barley, Linseed Core collection and Reference set for linseed budfly tolerance and R software for data analysis (augmentedRCBD and evaluateCore) for PGR management. She also worked for the mainstreaming of agricultural biodiversity conservation through UNEP/GEF project in the Leh-Ladakh region. She has published 40 research papers of which 16 have NAAS rating >10. She developed more than 16 genetic stocks in oilseed and cereal crops. She is also involved in teaching PGR courses and guiding trainees and students for post-graduation and Ph. D. programs

• Best poster presentation award (2023) for presentation under the theme “Trait discovery and genomics in plants of NWH” in National Seminar on ‘Plant Biodiversity for food, nutrition and health security in Noth-West Himalayas’ on 27-28 November, 2023 at Shoolini University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
• Best oral presentation award (2022) for presenting on “An attempt to bring crop wild relatives of Linum under active research process” in the National Conference on recent innovations in agricultural and allied sciences for livelihood security (RIAALLS) organised by Rama University, Kanpur nagar, UP during October 21-22, 2022.
• Best poster presentation award (2022) for presentation under the theme “Trait discovery, gene mining and genome editing” in 1st National Conference on Plant Genetic Resources Management held at the National Agricultural Science Centre (NASC), Pusa Campus, New Delhi from 22-24 November 2022.
• Best Paper Award (2022) for the presentation “Genetic Dissection of Flowering Time, Maturity and Plant Height in Linum usitatissimum L. using Multi-Locus Genome Wide Association Study” in ISPP North Zonal Seminar-2022 on Inter-Disciplinary Research Strategies for Climate Resilient Agriculture organised by Indian Society for Plant Physiology (North Zone) on 25th June, 2022 at ICAR-Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Regional Center, Karnal, Haryana.
• Best poster presentation award (2019) for “Evaluation of barley gemplasm for drought tolerance based on morpho-physiological and molecular analysis” in National conference on Recent Development in basic sciences organized by BMU, Asthal Bohar Rohtak on 02-04-2019. pp 31, Poster BOT-215.
• Awarded with Young Scientist Associate Award for the year 2016 by Society for Recent Development in Agriculture at international conference entitled Global Agriculture & Innovation Conference (GAIC 2016) from November 27-29, 2016 at Noida International University, Greater Noida.
