Salient Achievements

1. Associated in registration of genetic Stock
• Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa): IC636677 (INGR20099) — A dwarf tuberose selection (average plant height 48.49 cm) with short and straight spikes suitable for pot culture, vertical panel and other purposes.
• Jute (Corchorus aestuans): IC646844 (INGR22147) – Highly resistant to Stem rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina, resistant to Root knot nematode, highly resistant to Bihar hairy caterpillar
2. Identification of sources of resistance in vegetable germplasm against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita
• Okra: Accessions belonging to Abelmoschus angulosus var. grandiflorus (IC203863) and A. tetraphyllus (IC470742) were identified as moderately resistant germplasm.
• Chilli: Accessions viz., EC402105 and EC399535 were identified as resistant germplasm.
• Brinjal: The accession (IC618029) belonging to Solanum torvum is identified as resistant germplasm.
3. Facilitated in safe exchange of germplasm under Quarantine: Along with quarantine team, facilitated in import / export of crop germplasm (approx. 3.10 lakhs samples during 2019-20 to 2023-24) meant for South India and also post-entry quarantine inspections (36,501 accessions) on import crop germplasm meant for private industry, public organizations and international institutes
4. Identified promising isolates of fluorescent pseudomonads, viz., Pseudomonas putida DAPG1 (GenBank: JX514425) and P. putida DAPG3 (GenBank: JX14404) for management of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne arenaria in groundnut.
