Salient Achievements

  • Conservation and Management of around 30000 germplasm accessions of Vegetable Genetic Resources conserved in the National Genebank
  • Experience in the area of quick viability test (protocols standardized in Jatropha and Baliospermum), germination, seed quality and vigour test.
  • Experience in the area of seed dormancy and seed storage behaviour in difficult to store species. Methods developed and Standardized for breaking seed dormancy and germination in wild Solanum, Alium , Abelmoschus,  Momordica , Thespesia lampas  and  Corchorus 
  • Experience in the area of ultra desiccation (cost effective conservation strategies) for improving seed viability and storability in vegetable germplasm.
  • Experience in Hybrid Seed Production of solanaceous vegetables, seed health testing and storability.
  • Genetic stocks of tomato (High TSS) and brinjal (Bacterial wilt resistant) germplasm with unique traits identified and registered.
  • Experience in Post Graduate Teaching and Human Resource Development activities at National level.
