Salient Achievements

Over a period of >37 years of experience in different capacities at ICAR-NBPGR, significantly contributed to development of new knowledge and technologies in the field of plant genetic resources management. Managed around 90 crore extra mural research grant from different agencies for the management of genetic resources and their use in crop improvement. Executed exploration missions and collected medicinal plants diversity including rare, endangered, and threatened (RET) species from different phyto-geographical regions. As team leader conceptualized and executed the activities of characterization, trait specific evaluation and utilization of landraces and crop wild relatives (CWRs) under CRP on Agro Biodiversity. Initiated and executed large scale characterization of entire gene bank collections which resulted in the development of core sets, reference sets and reporting unique traits in germplasm. Research activities resulted in the development of products like core sets, genetic stocks, genomic resources, databases, copy rights and technologies on management and use of plant genetic resources are as follows.
