Salient Achievements

  • De novo Whole genome sequencing and assembly: Green cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) cv Njallani Green gold and Black pepper (Piper nigrum) land race Thottumuriyan. Sequencing of Fenugreek underway.
  • Development of a database of genome wide SSRs for marker generation in cardamom -green cardamom db and black pepper -Pinig SSR db(hosted on NBPGR website)
  • Development of a technology for distinction of citrus rootstocks i.e Rangpur lime and Jambhiri from Galgal (available on Agrinovate India Ltd website)
  • Development and utilization of genomic SSR markers in bittergourd, chilli and brinjal through genomic library enrichment
